M.A.N (Marina Anne Nolles) rencontre les MANiACS en 2018. D’abord Romain Thorel (claviériste, corniste) surdoué du conservatoire et obsédé du groove ; Arnaud Beyney (guitare, basse) bluesman précoce ; et enfin Elodie Longuemart (batterie, chœurs) une she-punk solaire.
Lorsqu’ils jouent ensemble, les constellations s’alignent. Des riffs de blues saillants contrastent avec des envolées éthérées puissantes, et le groupe s’enflamme dans un tourbillon psychédélique. Des inspirations rock 70’s côtoient une pop sucrée au service des textes amers de la chanteuse franco-américaine.
Dans ce premier LP éponyme, 9 Protest Songs qui cristallisent un moment unique en son genre, en plein confinement, où le groupe a composé ensemble pour la première fois. Les thèmes chers à M.A.N sont toujours là : cancer, pollution, viol, contrastant avec le doux son de l’appel de la Sirène… Grâce à l’apport original du Cor à la basse, une énergie et un son brut se dégagent de ce power trio.
Il a été enregistré dans des conditions “live” au studio L’abeille Rôde dans le Gard (enregistré, mixé et masterisé par Claude et Dominique Leonetti).
